The 13th International Conference on Highly Frustrated Magnetism

The International Conference on Highly Frustrated Magnetism (HFM) convenes experts from the magnetic community worldwide. HFM emphasizes and discusses theoretical and experimental studies concerning magnetic frustration, addressing related topics and relevant issues within the field.

The HFM international conference was first organized by the Canadian magnetism community and held in Waterloo, Canada in June 2000 (HFM 2000). The second iteration took place in Grenoble, France (HFM 2003), and the third in Osaka, Japan (HFM 2006). Since then, it has been hosted in various countries across America, Europe, and Asia. The most recent conferences, HFM 2022, took place in Paris, France, and HFM 2024 in Chennai, India. Attendance has grown from ~70 at the inaugural HFM 2000 conference to ~260 at the last meeting, HFM 2024. This remarkable increase in attendance underscores HFM’s status as a thriving area of research in condensed matter physics.

The 13th International Conference on Highly Frustrated Magnetism (HFM 2025) will be held in-person from 25 to 30 May, 2025, in Toronto, Canada.

Key dates for HFM 2025 are as follows:

  • 2 September 2024: Abstract submission opens
  • 1 October 2024: Registration opens
  • 15 November 2024: Abstract submission deadline
  • 15 March 2025: Early-bird registration deadline
  • 30 April 2025: Regular registration deadline
